Meet Suzanne

I’m Suzanne Reid, Scottish-Dutch, and I’ve called North Aveyron home since early 2021.

After more than two decades living, working and travelling throughout Europe, I finally followed my long-held dream: buying a rural property to renovate and make my own! Growing up around Invernessshire and the West Coast of Scotland, arriving in North Aveyron felt surprisingly familiar — rugged landscapes, green hills, deep valleys and winding rivers reminded me of home, and the French culture, traditions and way of life offered an exciting new adventure and brand new chapter.

I immediately fell in love with this part of France for the landscape, the character of its villages and old buildings, and the sense of space, community and outstanding nature that is increasingly difficult to find in Europe. My home is a centuries-old stone house perched at the top of the valley, overlooking the confluence of the Lot and Truyère rivers, and my own ongoing renovation has given me a very practical understanding of the joys, challenges and unexpected details that come with owning an older property in this part of France.

Before moving to Aveyron, I spent nearly two decades working in international organisations in operational and financial risk management, professional administration and events management. My work taught me how to assess risk, manage complexity, coordinate activities and practical details, and deal with sensitive responsibilities with discretion and precision.

Life as an international resident and expat has also taught me something else important: how much easier things become when you have someone local who understands both sides. I know what it's like to navigate unfamiliar systems, organise things from another country and discover that a seemingly simple task can involve a surprising number of details. I also know how reassuring it is to have someone you trust on the ground who notices the small things, communicates clearly and helps find a practical solution when something doesn’t go according to plan.

Whether I'm looking after a second home, helping guests or visitors, helping with a special event, or supporting someone through their property journey, you can expect professional rigour and a personal approach. My core values are a straightforward approach, reliability and open communication. And I'm comfortable taking responsibility for the details so you can concentrate on enjoying your time in North Aveyron.

And when I’m not working, you’ll usually find me at the home I love, with my dogs, working in the garden, exploring the countryside, foraging for mushrooms or simply enjoying village life  —  the profile photo probably says it all!
