I am based in Australia and, with friends, have owned a property in the Lot valley for 30 years. It is rented out when it is not being used by owners. I have no hesitation in recommending Suzanne as a property steward. She is everything you’d want - personable, practical, proactive and trustworthy. Some of my past managers have simply rung to tell me a problem has arisen – and I have had to take it from there. Suzanne on the other hand has often already put steps in motion to solve the problem (eg contacting local trades for prices and availability) or has even fixed it herself – she is a very ‘hands on’ person who will fix things herself if she can. She also has good relationships with many local trades, from plumbers to roofers to ‘handyman’ types, so can usually get things done fairly quickly. Being multilingual – English, French (and Dutch) – is also a real benefit to owners like me who have conversational French but might struggle with more technical discussions. She manages our garden and pool; liaises with and pays our local cleaner and takes away a lot of the ‘day to day’ worries. We work as a team on bigger things (for example we have had some insurance claims arising from storm damage; and Suzanne has handled the ‘on the ground’ things like attending the property with insurance assessors, while I have dealt with the claims officers) and I have always found her constructive and helpful. I’ve never had any cause to question her management of our local finances and she accounts regularly for all expenses incurred. Suzanne communicates with me regularly and relevantly – mostly by WhatsApp chats, but also by Zoom when required – and as a ‘remote’ owner it is reassuring to know I can contact her and chat about any issues that need discussion, reasonably easily.
